I watched American: The Bill Hicks Story this weekend, which covers the life and career of this eminent philosopher comedian. His insights continue to be profound, relevant, and poignant to contemporary times, especially:

    nokogiri gem installation on snow leopard

    installing nokogiri gem on snow leopard failed on libxml2 and libxslt checks until I did the following:

    cleared out the old libs:

    • $ sudo port uninstall -f libxml2
    • $ sudo port uninstall -f libxslt

    installed the new libs:

    • $ sudo port install libxml2
    • $ sudo port install libxslt

    I was then able to install nokogiri

    • $ sudo gem install nokogiri
    • Successfully installed nokogiri-1.3.3

    Leopard Corruption Recovery

    • External USB/FireWire Drive(s)

      • creates easy cloned, bootable partitions
      • partitions selected via 'Option' key during booting
      • free version provides sufficient functionality
      • backup media can be cloned back to original drive, or accessed when mounted
